CATSmart Technology

Continuous Processing

All-at-once ease.
Non-stop results.

CATSmart’s proprietary centrifuge system multi-tasks without interruption. It continuously pushes shed blood through the spiral channel of the wash chamber and simultaneously separates, washes, and packs red cells. This is unlike bowl-based batch processing systems. The PRC sensor monitors the RBC interface and auto-adjusts pump flow rates, for optimal results, every time.

AT3 Kit

One-size-fits-all efficiency.

CATSmart’s proprietary AT3 kit simplifies stock management, decision-making, and set up. The single-sized washing chamber can process any volume of shed blood — small, medium, and large — an easy choice for every patient or procedure. The all-in-one kit, with pre-connected functionally closed-system components, including washing chamber, reinfusion bag, waste bag, centrifuge tubing – including the hematocrit sensor – and pump adapter, makes installation equally easy.

Wash Programs

Clear settings for swift selections.

CATSmart’s four situation specific wash programs — Smart, Low Volume, Flex, and Emergency — simplify your set-up and in-process changes.
On the main screen of the display monitor the Change Wash Program button provides access to all three program options, so you can set up with ease.
Smart Wash is recommended for the majority of surgical cases and patients — delivering PRC at output rates between 20 and 40 mL/min.

Low Volume wash is designed to process very small shed blood volumes associated with smaller patients and orthopedic procedures, delivering PRC at an output rate of 25 mL/min.

Emergency wash is ideal for urgent, high-volume trauma or transplantation procedures or very large patients, delivering PRC at output rates from 50 to 100 mL/min.
While the Emergency wash can be pre-selected, access to a quick-switch button at the base of the in-process screen makes an in-procedure adjustment to Emergency wash stress-free.

Flex wash, CATSmart’s latest wash program, provides you with the Flexibility to choose between a factor 3 and factor 5 wash depending on your clinical need.
Flexible wash factors to be used in standard or routine cases where highly contaminated or damaged blood processing or low volume is not a factor.

Auto-Start Function

A hands-free,
hassle-free start.

CATSmart lets you easily preselect a start volume — as low as 200mL or up to 3000mL — based on expected amount and speed of blood loss. The shed blood reservoir sensor tells the system to begin pumping into the wash chamber, initiating processing, as soon as the fluid height hits your target, so you don’t lose a minute during the procedure thinking about starting or over-filling.

PRC Sensor

Reinfusion-ready
with minimal mLs.

CATSmart lets you deliver packed red cells right when your patient needs them. The PRC sensor directs the system to start pumping to the reinfusion bag when PRC volume in the wash chamber registers at as little as 30 mL. Unlike in bowl-based systems, as soon as the first volume of PRC reaches the bag it can be accessed for patient use, immediately or whenever required, by pausing the system.
